My name is Andrea Chavarriaga, and I am a high school sophomore sharing my experience aboard Icon of the Seas and how accessibility helps create a more inclusive travel experience for everyone.

When I recently went on a cruise on the Icon of the Seas, I noticed how much cruise ships have changed. Cruises are usually known for their entertainment, food, and exciting activities, but a lot of thought also goes into making sure more people can enjoy the experience. During my trip, I noticed that the ship included different features that help guests with disabilities feel more comfortable and included.

One thing that stood out to me was how easy it was to move around the ship. Icon of the Seas is a huge ship with many different areas to explore, so it is important that everyone can get around. The ship has elevators, wide hallways, and open spaces that make it easier for people who use wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility devices. These features may seem small, but they can make a big difference for someone trying to enjoy their vacation.

I also noticed that the ship has accessible staterooms for guests who may need extra support. These rooms are designed with more space and features that make them easier to use. Things like wider doorways, open layouts, and accessible bathrooms can help guests feel more comfortable during their stay. Having these options shows that cruise companies are paying attention to the needs of different travelers.

Another thing I liked about the ship was that many of the activities and areas were designed so everyone could join in. A cruise is about spending time with family and friends, trying new things, and making memories. Whether guests want to watch a show, eat at a restaurant, relax by the pool, or explore the ship, it is important that they have the chance to enjoy those experiences. Accessibility helps make sure that more people can be part of the fun.

The crew members also play an important role in making the cruise experience better. Friendly and helpful staff can make guests feel welcomed and supported. Sometimes having someone available to answer questions or provide assistance can make a vacation less stressful and more enjoyable.

Before this trip, I did not think much about how many details go into making a cruise accessible. After seeing the different features on the Icon of the Seas, I realized how important it is for travel experiences to be designed for everyone. Being inclusive means making sure people with different abilities are not left out and can enjoy the same activities as other guests.

As cruises continue to become more advanced, it is exciting to see more attention being given to accessibility. The Icon of the Seas is an example of how modern cruise ships are working to create better experiences for all travelers. A vacation should be a time where people can relax, have fun, and make memories, and these accessibility features help make that possible for more people.

My experience on the Icon of the Seas showed me that small changes can have a big impact. When places are created with everyone in mind, more people get the chance to explore, enjoy new experiences, and feel included.
